Haw Creek Church
Haw Creek Church (1872)
Moved
to Round Top from a community five miles south, this structure served
for many years as a Lutheran church, a schoolhouse and a community
center. Its large brass bell, made in New York in the 1880s, carries
the inscription "Ich rufe die lebenden sur kirche und die
totenzum grabe (I call the living to church and the dead to the
grave). One
of the churchs pews is original. Portions of the walls were painted
for use as a classroom blackboard. Many modern couples have used this
lovely structure as the site for their wedding day.
